I had the pleasure of working as an attraction manager at Gardaland, one of the most popular theme parks in Italy, from March 2018 to September 2019. During that time, I was responsible for managing the processes, mechanisms, commands, procedures, problems, and people of three different attractions in three different periods.
Skills gained from this experience
- Leadership: I was responsible for leading a team of up to 15 people, including operators, supervisors, and technicians. I had to delegate tasks, provide training and support, and ensure that everyone was working together to achieve the same goals.
- Problem-solving: I had to be able to quickly and effectively solve problems that arose, both with the rides themselves and with the people who were operating them. This required me to be able to think critically, identify the root cause of the problem, and develop a solution.
- Communication: I had to be able to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including my team members, guests, and other park staff. This required me to be able to clearly articulate my instructions, listen to feedback, and resolve conflict.
- Customer service: I was responsible for ensuring that guests had a positive experience at my attractions. This required me to be friendly, helpful, and patient. I also had to be able to handle difficult situations in a calm and professional manner.
Managing 1.5 million people only in 2018
In the 2018 season, over 1.5 million people passed through the attractions that I managed. This was a huge responsibility, but it was also an incredibly rewarding experience. I was proud to be a part of a team that was dedicated to providing guests with a safe and enjoyable experience.
